INQUIRER: Philadelphia police yesterday found the bullet-riddled body of a 21-year-old man who was sitting inside a car parked in the driveway of a home in West Philadelphia. Sgt. William Gallagher identified the man as Raheem Ellis and said he lived near 1400 N. 56th St., where his body was found around 2 a.m. Police were called after receiving a report of shots being fired. INQUIRER: Two episodes of gunfire within a few miles of each other today in the Northeast have left two men dead, according to police. Gunfire at noon in Wissinoming left an 18-year-old dead and a 17-year-old hospitalized. The older teen, shot multiple times in the 4800 block of Tackawanna Avenue, was taken to Frankford Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 12:30 p.m., according to Officer Tanya Little. INQUIRER: A 24-year-old man, shot last night inside a Northeast apartment building, died this morning, according to Philadelphia police. Matthew Smith, 24, was shot in the chest and shoulder shortly before 11:30 p.m. inside the Brookmont Apartments at 600 Red Lion Road in Bustleton. Smith, who lived there, was taken to Frankford Torresdale Hospital, but was pronounced dead at 4:29 a.m. The shooting took place in a stairwell or hallway near the entrance, police said. Homicide detectives were at the scene this morning, asking neighbors for help in piecing together what happened.

INQUIRER: A 25-year-old man was shot to death in the city’s Logan section this morning, and shootings overnight left three people critically injured, police said. The man, described by neighbors as Anthony, was sitting in a chair on his porch in the 4400 block of North Chadwick Street when he was shot once in the head sometime before 6:53 a.m., when someone called 911 to report the body, police said. INQUIRER: The 28-year-old man shot by police yesterday has a lengthy criminal record that includes two charges of attempted murder and two convictions for illegal gun possession, court records show. Troy Bagby — who also goes by Troy Pressley and Troy Bagby Pressley — was sentenced to county prison twice for gun violations and once for drug dealing, court records show. INQUIRER: A man allegedly shot at a woman and then killed himself in Frankford early this morning, police said. The man, who was not identified, was pronounced dead by medics at 12:32 a.m. in the 5000 block of Saul Street. The woman, who also was not identified, reportedly suffered a graze wound to the head and was transported to Albert Einstein Medical Center.

INQUIRER: A North Philadelphia man was killed in a hail of gunfire late last night in the city’s Crescentville section, police said. Ari Weston, 19, was shot multiple times in the chest about 11:15 p.m. near Tacony Creek Park. Police found Weston’s bullet-ridden body at the intersection of Rising Sun and Olney Avenues. Weston was taken to Einstein University Hospital where he was pronounced dead just before midnight. Police have made no arrests and the motive for the shooting is unknown.

INQUIRER: Earlier in court, Common Pleas Judge Glenn Bronson sentenced Antonio Coulter to 36 to 72 years in state prison for the shooting and for his attempt to escape afterward. INQUIRER: Police this morning identified a 37-year-old car wash employee who was fatally shot at work in North Philadelphia yesterday afternoon. Fassara Kouyate, of the 200 block of Birch Street in Kensington, was shot at 4:47 p.m. near the intersection of Broad Street and Lehigh Avenue, police said. He was taken to Temple University Hospital and pronounced dead at 5:20 p.m. No arrests were reported.

INQUIRER: Former Philadelphia 76er Aaron F. McKie was arrested this morning on charges he lied while trying to buy two pistols despite a restraining order banning weapons possession. KILLADELPHIA: Graduate Critical After Shooting
PHILLY.COM: An 18-year-old man was shot in the back at 4:19 p.m., less than a half-hour after his graduation from Strawberry Mansion High School, authorities said. The shooting took place in the 1700 block of North Broad Street, where the high school’s commencement ceremony at Temple University’s Liacouras Center ended at 3:55 p.m. The man, whom police would not identify, is in critical condition at Temple University Hospital.
