BY WILLIAM C. HENRY So it will be if the President and the Senate capitulate to the right wing Republican terrorists holding the House of Representatives hostage in their crusade to destroy the current American Presidency. Never before in our history has a radical political faction shown itself to be more gutless, duplicitous or traitorous. Let me repeat that: Never before in our history has the nation and its Presidency been forced to endure a more cowardly, deceitful or subversive reactionary political coterie. Or a more racist one. Period. Exaggerated? Hardly.
What we are witnessing is an attempt by a radical Republican cabal within the House to govern through extortion, racism and the philosophy of the “big lie.” Make no mistake, at the heart of it all is a deep-seated loathing of a black Presidency in turn fomenting a despicable course of action designed to subvert that Presidency by dismantling its most progressive accomplishment, the Affordable Care Act. The extortion? Agree to defund said Affordable Care Act or see America brought to its knees. The “big lie”? Repeat over and over again that providing all Americans with access to quality affordable healthcare is an evil proposition. Endlessly lie about literally every aspect of said healthcare program until a majority of uninformed Americans come to believe that the lies are, in fact, truths.
Aiding and abetting — to use the term “leading” in this particular context would be a synonymic error of Norm Crosby proportions — these would-be autocrats in their drive to destroy democratic government is a feckless wuss by the name of John Boehner, aka Speaker of the House (actually, Speaker of the Covin would be a more befitting title). Justifiably for Johnny, though, he has become little more than the water carrier for the real head House Teaturd, majority leader Eric Cantor. Both of them exemplify the slimy hypocrisy that abounds in the Tea Party these days: believing that they and their families deserve access to quality affordable healthcare but some 45,000,000 unprotected Americans don’t.
President Obama was most certainly correct when he said, “What Republicans hate and fear most about Obamacare is that Americans will actually like it.” What he didn’t bring up, however, is the hatred engendered by the term Obamacare itself. When asked about their feelings on the subject using the term Obamacare in a negatively suggestive manner (as Republicans have done from the beginning) over 50% of Americans said they opposed it. But when asked their feelings on the individual provisions of the “Affordable Care Act” and shown how they could benefit from them, they overwhelmingly favored it. Yes, racism by any other connotation still smells just as rank.
How repugnant it is that these self-proclaimed patriots will go to any lengths to accommodate the wishes of powerful corporate welfare recipients while denying even basic food stuffs to the poor. Worse yet, nearly all of these treacherous bastards got their jobs through political fraud to begin with. It’s called gerrymandering and it’s one of the most corrupt practices in all of politics. Behold the Tea Party, the dregs of government, and the hope of liars, bigots and plutocrats everywhere. Hard to believe that an entire nation can be held hostage by a fringe group of predatory extremists whose only fealty is to greed, power and racial purity. Can they really get away with this, America? Better yet, do you care?
