Inside The Secret Cermemonies Of The Mormons

RELATED: Mormon temple ceremonies are a closely held secret. Until now. For the first time in the 170+ year history of secret Mormon temple activity, those activities have been captured on film with a hidden camera. Watch with your own eyes the sworn oath, known as the “Law of Consecration,” that US Presidential candidate Mitt Romney has raised his arm to the square and vowed to obey, an oath that requires faithful Mormons to consecrate 100% of their current AND FUTURE time, talents and everything they will ever be blessed with, to the Mormon church and it’s goal to achieve […]

WORTH REPEATING: The New Yorker Endorsement

Photo by PLATON THE NEW YORKER: Romney has embraced the values and the priorities of a Republican Party that has grown increasingly reactionary and rigid in its social vision. It is a party dominated by those who despise government and see no value in public efforts aimed at ameliorating the immense and rapidly increasing inequalities in American society. A visitor to the F.D.R. Memorial, in Washington, is confronted by these words from Roosevelt’s second Inaugural Address, etched in stone: “The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is […]

MORE WASHINGTON POST: Wondering if the Obama “horses and bayonets” line was planned? LILYS DOC: Everything Wrong Is Imaginary

Trailer for the yet-to-be-completed-and-released Lilys documentary. No that’s not the Lilys pictured above, that’s then-City Paper editor Brian Howard and longtime CP music scribe Pat Rapa waxing poetic on Kurt Heasley and his magic band. We did most of the on-camera interviews for this, but sadly the film’s producer/director, our old pal Wayne Hamilton, passed away in media res and the project is currently in limbo. But gonna try and light some fires under the appropriate asses and see what we can make happen, so stay tuned. At the very least, somebody’s gonna get a hot ass. And goodnight Mr. […]

IGGLES REPORT: Those Bye Week Birdland Blues

BY JOE PAONE IGGLES CORRESPONDENT Just another uneventful bye week here in Birdland. Y’know, lots of evaluatin’, tryin’ to put players in better position, doin’ a better job… and this year, the added bonus of some shameless, desperate scapegoatin’.When we look back on Andy Reid’s tenure, we’ll know exactly when Camelot turned into Camden. It’ll be one of two moments: the day Big Red promoted his young ward Juan Castillo to defensive coordinator, or the day he kicked poor, loyal, hapless Juan to the curb. Come to think of it, it’ll probably be both. Juan had capably coached the offensive […]

The anxious crowd erupted into applause when the scratchy opening sample of the album dropped and GZA hit the stage. No fancy lights or video on this night, just a man and a DJ and one of the most memorable rap albums in history being re-created. The re-creation was incomplete however, as […]
