HIZZONER ’07: New Mrs. Mayor Talks About ‘My Boo’
BY ANNETTE JOHN-HALL INQUIRER COLUMNIST She is girlfriend-warm, with welcoming eyes and features that resemble the Mona Lisa. And she can switch seamlessly between Mix Master Mike and Policy Maker Mike. She loves both the same. Most of all, she admires that he stands strong in what he believes, no matter how much heat comes his way. Even with his controversial “stop-and-frisk” proposal, which would allow police to stop and search those suspected of carrying illegal weapons in high-crime neighborhoods, “he didn’t back down,” she said. “He didn’t tell white people one thing and black people something else. . . . The email arrived at 11:38 this morning – about 12 hours after Democratic voters chose Michael Nutter as their nominee for mayor. “Not that this will come as a surprise to anyone,” wrote Sam Katz to a reporter, “but I will not be a candidate for mayor in the general election.” Katz, a three-time candidate for mayor, raised that prospect late last month when he quietly changed his registration from Republican to “non-affiliated,” a move that set him up to run as an independent on the November ballot. But after Nutter’s win, Katz says he’s out. INQUIRER: All Is Well That […]

ENDORSEMENT: Michael Nutter For Mayor
Because he is The One to lead us out of the matrix of our own bullshit. Michael Nutter has got game: he speaks in complete paragraphs, with subsections A., B., and C. and attendant footnotes, which also have their own subsections A., B., and C. He has run a campaign of ideas — smart, principled, and aspirational — for solving just about every problem this city faces, while his opponents have offered the usual empty sloganeering, racial semaphore and coded entreaties to their respective bases. If that makes you a wonk or a nerd — well, you can call us […]
