First Person Arts is a Philadelphia nonprofit organization that celebrates the power of the personal. Their storytelling, social impact, and festival programs reinforce their mission: everyone has a story to tell, and sharing these stories connects us with each other and the world. For 13 years they have been hosting StorySlams around the city, wherein local storytellers got head to head in front of a live audience and a panel of celebrity judges (full disclosure, we judged one of these suckers) for a chance to proceed to the next round. On Thursday at the Prince Music theater Winners of First Person Arts’s 13th Season of StorySlams go head to head for the title of “Best Storyteller in Philadelphia”, free FPA Slam admission for life, and a $250 cash prize. Contestants will try to win over celebrity judges with their most outrageous, gutsy, and heartfelt personal tales on the theme “Thanks A Lot.” Featuring Caroline Charrow, Steve Clark, Jackie Debellis, Dan Geraghty, Dave Hillis, Roman Krivitsky, Nimisha Ladva, Lisa Nelson Haynes, Brittanie Sterner, Anne Thomas, Marjorie Winther, and hosted by Comedian Dave Hill. We have a pair of tickets to give away to some lucky Phawker reader. To qualify to win all you have to do is follow us on Twitter, and then notify us at FEED@PHAWKER.COM that you have done so (or already follow us on Twitter), with the magic words SLAM BAM THANK YOU MA’AM. Please include your full name and a mobile number for confirmation. Good luck and godspeed!
