PORTRAITS IN MUSIC
Photographs by Michael T. Regan
at the PRIMER Microstudio
Opening First Friday, June 5th
Doors open at 6:00pm
Michael T. Regan is a sucker for heart and soul. At a young age, he discovered that music moved him and, in the next heartbeat, fell in love with the idea of capturing its’ essence on film. With skills honed at NYU’s Tisch School of Art and through hard work, humility and passion, Mike has been fortunate to carve out a successful commercial career shooting portraits for newspapers, magazines, labels and agencies such as URB, XLR8R, Scratch and The Philadelphia City Paper. Inspired by the connection he feels with the artist he’s shooting, he tries to find some common aesthetic ground in which to work. The key, he believes, is experimenting with the spontaneity of the moment. Mike is compelled to extract the honest, emotional qualities of his subjects to catch a glimpse of their inner workings. You can see a preview of Mike’s work here.
If you can’t make it to the opening, the gallery is open during normal business hours (after hours by appt), and the exhibition will be on display all month long. We are easily accessible from Philadelphia via the R2 (station is a block from the gallery) and I-95. More info and directions here . Stop by and help support the arts in Hatboro!
EDITOR’S NOTE: Just to be clear Clap Your Hands And Say Yeah is NOT — repeat, NOT — performing at this event. We were just riffing on the accompanying image of CYHSY frontman Alec Ounsworth. Sorry for any confusion this might have caused.
