DEAR PHAWKER,
No one every really knows where these come from, and have no idea if they can trust them, so let me at least tell you, as a Phawker reader and practicing trial attorney, that I’ve personally seen Bernstein, DiVito, Herron, Jones, and Erdos in action and I recommend all of them for retention.
Just my $.02. Now you have another unsourced opinion to inform your choices.

DEAR PHAWKER
So the Phila. Bar Association publicly criticizes a judge last week…and then recommends that person for retention this week? Why am I even surprised?

DEAR PHAWKER
Neat, a shout-out to me.
Let me clarify a typo: Erdos is a newcomer; he’s not running for retention.
That doesn’t change my good opinion of him — I just don’t want anyone to be confused or mislead.
Also, to answer Peter’s comment: Deni’s ruling, and subsequent criticism, came after the PBA’s deadline to decide which judges it recommends. As I’ve been told (but haven’t reviewed myself), the PBA bylaws do not allow it to go back on its recommendations. Make of that what you will: it is neither an endorsement of her ruling nor a criticism. It is simply: “on the date the PBA evaluated judges, PBA’s opinion was that Deni was qualified.”

DEAR PHAWKER,
Yeah, I went back and re-read the article and realized the correct chronology. Ooops. Sometimes I read too fast.
