A male runner collapsed and died yesterday after crossing the finish line in the Broad Street Run, a city official said. “The young man finished the race,” said Recreation Commissioner Victor N. Richard. “He collapsed right at the finish line. As soon as he crossed over.”

UPDATE: The runner who died at yesterday’s Broad Street run was identified as a 29-year-old man from Holland, Pa. A post-mortem is scheduled to determine the cause of death of Robert Massaroni, who collapsed after crossing the finish line and was pronounced dead Methodist Hospital. Massaroni ran the race in 1:21:34 and finished 3,934th overall. [via Inquirer]
