Most of you know this news by now, but in case you didn’t get the official
word, it’s true: Liz will be leaving PW as our full-time senior editor.

Her last day is this Friday. Obviously, we’re all in denial.

The good news is that Liz will continue to do her “Trouble” column, her blog and the “Liz Spikol’s Philadelphia” twice-monthly video with Jess Fuerst.

Liz is leaving to become communications manager for the Pennsylvania Prison Society, a nonprofit social justice organization that advocates on behalf of prisoners, formerly incarcerated individuals and their families.

Liz will be responsible for, among other things, Graterfriends, a monthly publication that allows prisoners and the outside community to voice opinions and concerns about criminal justice issues; and Correctional Forum, a quarterly newsletter featuring legislative updates, reports about criminal justice studies and news about criminal justice issues nationwide.

The communications manager position also involves web content/design tasks and public speaking. Again: The way we choose to look at it, she’s not really leaving.
