Don’t know if you’ve noticed but our vaunted sports columnist Patrick “PBR” Berkery has been MIA for weeks now. Actually, he’s out on tour with the Pernice Brothers. When he told us he was leaving for a while we were like ‘What kind of sports columnist goes on tour with some pussy indie-pop band in the middle of football season?’ And he was all like ‘I’m a drummer, not a sportscaster.’ And we’re like NO YOU’RE NOT, YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE? YOU ARE DEAD TO ME! DEAD! And, um, give us a call when you get back and we’ll pick up where we left off, okay? Bon voyage.’ And so, in the meantime, here’s some redmeat analysis from a very detached observer, SCOTT LANGAN at Seahawks Huddle, Home Of the 12th Man, he seems to know what he’s talking about:
For the second straight week the Eagles faced a team that is ranked lower than 30th in the league against the rush. Yet for the second straight week the Eagles’ coaching staff refused to recognize that they needed to commit to the run and take it to their opponent via the ground attack.
I don’t know if offensive coordinator Marty Morningwheg and head coach Andy Reid think they’re fooling people, but they have not made any great strides in committing to a running attack. They ran the ball 25 times, compared to throwing it 29 times. While I understand that they were playing from behind most of the game, I can’t help but feel that those numbers should have been different.
