6ABC: Police say the 18-year-old man in custody for the murder of Sabina Rose O’Donnell simply wanted to steal her bike, and she was brutally killed in the confrontation that followed. Philadelphia Police Captain James Clark said during a news conference Wednesday morning that Donte Johnson [pictured, above], 18, of the 900 block of N. 11th Street in Philadelphia, has been taken into custody and is awaiting charges in the June 2nd murder of Sabina Rose O’Donnell. INQUIRER: An anonymous tip on June 11 led police to start searching for Johnson, who was already known to police in the area. When two officers spotted him days later, Johnson fled. On Tuesday, Johnson’s mother called police and arranged to have her son turn himself in. He surrendered to police around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, surrounded by family members. MORE
